Poole Parent/Carers Forum
The Aims of the Forum:-
To improve services for children with SEN and their families living in Poole.
For parents and carers to contribute their views (directly through their reps) and receive feedback on their contributions.
To help professionals providing services for children with SEN, to be confident their services meet the children's needs.
To form an effective partnership between parents/carers and professional in reviewing and developing services.
Who is on the Forum?
There are about 15 members who are all parents or carers of children and young people with SEN aged up to 19 who live in the Borough of Poole. Some represent mainstream families or those who foster SEN children. We also have parent reps from local charities.
What Issues can be brought to the Forum Meetings?
As we all know, issues that arise as a result of caring for a child with special needs, are not all educationally based. Our aim at the Forum is to discuss all aspects of our childrens' care and highlight those issues to education, health and social services professionals. Any issues can be raised through your rep but the forum can not fight individual battles. However if you are experiencing an issue, chances are that you are not the only family to do so.
When does the Forum Meet?
The Forum meets six times a year.
